段落回忆:
NMR is a physical phenomenon based upon the quantum mechanical magnetic properties of an atom’s nucleus. NMR also commonly refers to a family of scientific methods that exploit nuclear magnetic resonance to study molecules.
All nuclei that contain odd numbers of protons or neutrons have an intrinsic magnetic moment and angular momentum.
NMR resonant frequencies for a particular substance are directly proportional to the strength of the applied magnetic field, in accordance with the equation for the Larmor precession frequency.
NMR studies magnetic nuclei by aligning them with an applied constant magnetic field and perturbing this alignment using an alternating electric field, those fields being orthogonal.
NMR phenomena are also utilised in low field NMR and earth’s field NMR spectrometers, and some kinds of magnetometer.

考情分析:第一篇阅读难度较大,尤其标题匹配题,文章内容也较难,学生理解能力要求较高,平时练习需要对这种文章进行精读练习。

P2:大猩猩文化
题型:配对题、判断题和填空题
文章回顾:主要讲述大猩猩这一物种的社会结构和文化体系
段落回忆:
As an increasing number of field studies of chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) have achieved long-term status across Africa, differences in the behavioural repertoires described have become apparent that suggest there is significant cultural variation. Here we present a systematic synthesis of this information from the seven most long-term studies, which together have accumulated 151 years of chimpanzee observation. This comprehensive analysis reveals patterns of variation that are far more extensive than have previously been documented for any animal species except humans. We find that 39 different behaviour patterns, including tool usage, grooming and courtship behaviours, are customary or habitual in some communities but are absent in others where ecological explanations have been discounted. Among mammalian and avian species, cultural variation has previously been identified only for single behaviour patterns, such as the local dialects of song-birds. The extensive, multiple variations now documented for chimpanzees are thus without parallel. Moreover, the combined repertoire of these behaviour patterns in each chimpanzee community is itself highly distinctive, a phenomenon characteristic of human cultures14 but previously unrecognised in non-human species.

P3:语言发展
本篇文章总体难度较大
段落回忆:
From birth on, children are programmed to develop speech and language. The first five years are most critical, but language development continues throughout early childhood and into adolescence. During the first five years, stimulation of language development is essential as the brain is developing new nerve cells as well as multiple connections between these cells to serve the function of expressive and receptive language. Lack of stimulation during this time could result in a child making slower progress or end up with poor communication skills. Later, we provide some tips for parents on how to help with language development, but some simple suggestions are to spend lots of time talking, singing, and reading to your child.
In the early stages of language development, the brain is programmed to attend to speech sounds and begin to mimic them. Early on, babies like to make sounds up on their own. Later they attempt to repeat sounds and words they’re exposed to from their environment.
Children usually say their first words between nine and 18 months old. The most common first words are either “mama” or “dada.” What’s interesting is no matter what language children are taught, the first words usually reference either mother or father.
By about 18 months, a child usually has a vocabulary of 50 to 150 words. Children at this age begin to put a couple of words together to form a sentence sometimes referred to as “telegraphic speech,” such as “Mommy ball” or “Mommy throw ball.” By two-years-old, they can typically use over 300 words and understand about 1,000 words.
In elementary school, children continue to expand their use of oral language and are also learning to read a write. As children progress through middle school and high school, they continue to expand their vocabulary, refine their grammatical skills and write in more complexities as well as continue to develop reading comprehension skills.

写作

小作文:Bar chart
The bar below shows the change in the depth on average in Canada during the period from 2011-2014.Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

短评:混合图,难度一般。注意时态和主被动,分类标准要单一,不能频繁变换跑道。数据较多时可以选择合并和省略。

近期考试预测:由于已经考察柱图,饼图,根据以往经验,烤鸭们可以重点关注线图(动态图尤其重要),地图,流程图。

大作文:in some parts of the world, children and teenagers are commuting more crimes. Why is the case happening? How should children or teenagers be punished?

Contributing to their community can be an effective way, and one argument in its favour is that they are immature. It would be a difficult thing to predict the consequences of their behaviour and law knowledge might not be sufficiently acquired at that young age. Another important factor in this respect is that they are formable in character compared to adult criminal, thus it is better to educate them. Doing something valuable to their society can embed a sense of responsibility in them and give them an opportunity to reflect on their deviance, which will truly rectify their criminality.

短评:旧话题
近期考试预测:雅思写作仍然会考九大话题中的具体化问题,希望烤鸭们最近可多关注社会,媒体,教育,犯罪的相关话题。

DESCRIBE A TIME WHEN YOU PREPARED FOR A HAPPY EVENT
You should say:
When this happened
Who you were with
What you prepared for
And explain how you felt about the event

This happened 5 years ago. I was with a group of new students at my school and some other teachers, and I was preparing for our 1st Talent Show. I felt nervous about it as I had never done anything like this before. I had wanted to, but never had the opportunity. I was going to display my abilities to organize something in front of the entire school, a group of people who only knew me for my ability to teach. I was very excited that these students actually trusted me to help them put together this show, since this was the 1st time for them as well. They could have chosen anybody else, but they chose me. That gave me a very warm feeling. I also felt confident that all my ideas and plans would ultimately create a dream come true for me; that I could organize a successful event by myself, and show off my talents & the talents of others that I had helped to establish this opportunity. Since I had only shown these people that I was a competent teacher, this was something that was very special for me, and that’s how I felt about this event.

1.Why do some people prefer having important meals in a restaurant than cooking at home?
2.Does having a meal at home make people closer to each other?

4.Would you emphasize more on food quality or service when you eat in a restaurant?
5.If you were invited to eat at your friend’s, would you be expected to bring a gift?
